Poodle Rescue of North Texas

A Special Thank You to some very special people. The people who daily support our wonderful breed ...

We would, first and foremost, like to thank our volunteers, who take dogs into their homes, no matter what shape they arrive in, and strive to make a difference to that dog for the rest of its life. Without foster homes, there would be no program. They are the heart and soul of rescue. So, thank you Kathy, Cindy and Jon, Joy, Ron, Lynda and Michael, Laurie and Roger, Anne and Doug, and Clay. Then we have all the providers of services that help transform the rescued dog back into a healthy animal, from our veterinarians and chiropractors to our groomers. Below is a list of all of our veterinarians and veterinary specialists who deal with us on a regular basis. Most of these professionals can be linked to on our links page. The Animal Medical and Surgical Hospital of Frisco has been with us since the beginning. Drs. Kevin Marcum and Deborah Schaffer have both gone beyond the call of duty for years, since taking us to raise. Dr. Paul Dean of Mustang Vet, a board certified orthopedist, has helped with many amazing orthopedic procedures that saved quite a few legs, knees, elbows and hips. His expertise has been greatly appreciated. Dr. Christine Rees, a board certified dermatologist formerly a tenured professor at Texas A&M Veterinary School, fifteen or so years ago diagnosed a rare dermatological condition in my own standard poodle. She has recently relocated to Dallas and is consulting with PRNT as needed. Dr. Virginia Schultz, an ophthalmologist who was on staff at Oklahoma State Veterinary School in Stillwater, Ok. and now owns the Eye Care Clinic for Animals in Oklahoma City has assisted us greatly in removing cataracts from several of our blind animals. Dr. Gene Giggleman of Parker Chiropractic University has seen and cared for many of our rescues and has been responsible for saving the life of at least one last Christmas. His ability to care goes a long way. Veterinarians Dental has recently joined us and is providing great help with major dental issues. They may be the new kid on the block, but poodles are notorious for their awful teeth, so they are a very welcome addition. Dr. Terry Ford of North Dallas Veterinary Hospital, who was my personal vet before I went overboard on rescue, has always been there to provide emergency close-by help and by giving us space for the sale of our crate pads. Special thanks go to all the loyal, supportive staff, who have hung in there with us at his clinic. . Grooming is always essential if you are talking poodles. Grooming rescued poodles straight from whatever circumstance lead them to rescue is both an art and a work of compassion. Words cannot describe the care and tenderness that all the guys (Ron, Johnny, Tony, and Bill) at Paws and Claws have exhibited to our dogs for the last fourteen years. Deb Stover has done more than her share of grooming at The Hip School of Dog Grooming- our standards eagerly await each new group of students. High Stone Pet Lodge has both groomed for us and invited us events where we could meet poodle people and sell our products. Thank you, Della. Corporate donors have been extremely generous--some with cash, others with goods, and others with services. Thank you to Bayer Animal Health for providing Advantix to control ticks, Houston Pet Food Bank for providing 320 cases of Little Caesar Gourmet Dog Food, Leggett and Platt Manufacturing for 100 or so dog beds, U Haul for many blankets which have been put to good use. All have been put to good use. Thanks to our fellow Texas rescues--Poodle Rescue of Houston and The Poodle Patch of Texarkana for stepping up to take “extra” dogs, for providing both emotional and financial support. A special thank you to Brent and Judy Klopfenstein for allowing us to use their ballet studio to house our fundraiser for Bastille Day. Also, I am particularly thankful to those with technical skills to create and maintain web sites, databases, and other computer oriented things beyond my ken, who have given their time and abilities freely to help us both currently and over the years. The individuals who have donated crates, sweaters, toys, beds, treats and food have all been helpful beyond our wildest dreams. This has been proof that “it takes a village”, so they say. Thank you all for populating that village.
