What's so special about poodles?

Poodles come in 3 varieties - Toy, Miniature and Standard.  All are high maintenance requiring companionship, leadership and sufficient funds for monthly grooming and veterinary care.  The breed has a life expectancy of 12-20 years (depending on the variety), is highly intelligent and is marked by a resiliency of temperament.

Why are they homeless?

There are many reasons why these special dogs become unwanted and homeless.  Neglect, impulse buying, death/disability of their owners and puppy mills closing are just a few.  It is for these reasons and many others that we work very hard to find permanent homes for each and every poodle.

Cost is an important factor when considering bringing a new pet into your home.  The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals offers the following averages, which include food, medical care and various accessories.

First year cost of common pets:

Small bird:  $195

Fish: $235

Guinea Pig: $645

Cat: $715

Small dog: $810

Rabbit: $911

Medium dog: $1,190

Large dog: $1,580
